Welcome!   We are B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit CIC, we’re an award-winning Community Interest Company (CIC) situated in Barley Mow Park.

You may have also heard of Sit ‘n’ ‘b’ fit which is another branch of services we offer.

We started in 2002 and have 19 years of experience in supporting local people within the community of Sunderland with their health and well-being using a person-centred approach. Our mission is to help reduce social isolation, maintain independent living and improve the health and well-being of our local community here in Sunderland using a holistic approach, as well as increase social cohesion.

Using our experience and success over the years in exercise, social activities, and holistic therapies we have developed a programme of activities both onsite at Barley Mow Park and out in the community of Sunderland.

Activities include health and fitness activities, holistic therapies, lifestyle and confidence-building courses, walking groups, learning new skills or enjoying a social activity. We work with individuals who have Long Term Health Conditions and by their own admission have felt bored, tired, sad, lonely, and are maybe looking for something new to do, as well as those individuals suffering with their mental health.

*We accept referrals from Health and Social Care Professionals as well as Direct referrals from members of the public.

Our Services

Outreach Services

We deliver outreach services to the community here in the city of Sunderland. Our outreach services include: a one-to-one exercise service, Personal Assistance (PA) services and exercise classes in care homes, sheltered accommodations, and community organisations

Personal assistance (PA) services are available to support the individual with their independence. A PA helps with tasks such as shopping, hospital appointments, gym, cinema, etc. Our PA services can run all day, tailored to the individual’s needs.
We also deliver a one-to-one exercise service in the comfort of your own home. This service is beneficial to those who have finished physio and need to maintain exercise and movement. It’s an excellent tool for those who are in rehabilitation after a period of ill health and for individuals with health conditions preventing them from participating in mainstream exercise. The sessions improve and sustain mobility and functionality, to aid independent living with a view to social integration dependent on client choice.

We provide exercise classes to a number of Care Homes, sheltered accommodations and community organisations across the city of Sunderland. Supplying stimulating activities for clients to help improve and sustain mobility, functionality, and fitness which can aid in the prevention of falls in older people.

Why not come along with a friend and join in one of our tailored community exercise classes, download the list below:

I haven’t been very active over the past few years mainly because of work but now I have started this course I want to carry on getting more active.  I feel like I am getting stronger, but would like to keep on and do more classes to keep my fitness up.   Community Exercise Classes 2023
